Medieval Times at Buena Park Castle!

Sophia says: Hi Readers! This week we went on vacation to L.A. On the first night we went to a restaurant called Medieval Times. It is shaped like a castle, and knights sword fight in front of you while you eat dinner. It was amazing!!!!! First, you buy a ticket at the entrance or you can make a reservation ahead of time. After you do that someone gives you a paper crown with a certain color on it. Ours was blue. Then you enter into the bar where you can buy drinks. The knights fight in another room where there is a big arena and you sit in certain sections depending on your crown color. The dinner and show starts at 6:00 so if you get there early, you can shop at the gift shops. Josh and I got a mango slushi at the bar before dinner. When it's time to eat, you sit at the arena and you cheer for your knight. Its awesome! The knights sword fight, joust and do cool tricks with their horses. One part was where a horse was dancing sideways! The dinner is castle bread, tomato soup, chicken, ribs, potatoes and pastry for dessert. Our waiter was super nice and during the end of the show, he gave all of a the girls a carnation. Also you get to eat with your hands! (there were no utensils in the medieval period).  When the show was over we got to meet all of the knights. They were super nice, even the bad guy. One of them even looked like Thor from The Avengers movie. Overall, I had a wonderful time!

Josh says: Hi Readers! We had the best dinner ever! We went to Medieval Times and it is awesome. It is a place where you get to watch to people fight on horses and without horses. You also get to eat amazing food, like dragon meat and dragon soup and the dragon soup tastes just like tomato soup and the dragon tastes like chicken. And the most fun part it that you eat with your hands!  And you cheer for a knight that is on your side. We had the blue knight and the blue night did amazing tricks. I think he was better than the other knights. The best part was the blue knight won the battle by fighting a bad guy.  And the bad guy got sent to jail forever. After the show I got a wooden sword and wooden shield. And I got to meet every single knight. It was my favorite dinner and I would definitely come back!

Paul says:  Great surprise in Southern California! A well produced show and true horsemanship skills. The dinner was fantastic, surprisingly delightful.  The young guys who were the knights are really skilled riders, you can tell they love what they do.

Jodie says: We had so much fun and it was such a great night! I had no idea what to expect and everything was wonderful.  We had about an hour before the show to walk around and see the costumes and the beautiful horses before the show.  The service was great and the food, the show, the arena was all put together so well. It was a great experience and I would highly recommend anyone visiting the LA area to give it a try!

Rogers Deli!

Sophia says: Hi Readers! Today for breakfast we went to Rogers Deli. They have donuts, omelets, pancakes, sandwiches, and french toast. I split the blueberry pancakes with my brother which had two big pancakes and eggs. When you order, they give you a number and call it when your food is ready. Ours was #4. This restaurant used to be just like a donut place that my dad and brother and I used to get donuts from, but now it is a restaurant with inside and outside seats.  I also ordered orange juice which is in the drinks display. I liked my food and next time I would come back and try a donut or a cinnamon roll.

Josh says: Good morning Readers! Today we went to Roger's Deli for breakfast. We got to sit outside because it was such a beautiful day. First we ordered at the counter and I ordered blueberry pancakes. My pancakes tasted delicious! And it also had scrambled eggs and the eggs were good. I would probably come back. 

Paul says: This was a pleasant surprise. The food was excellent and the plates were huge and easy to split. The decor is very basic with more seating outside than inside. I would definitely go back.


Jodie says:  We have driven past Rogers Deli for years and I have never eaten here until today.  It is a very casual restaurant/store set up. We got there at 9:30am and it was already crowded. Paul & I ordered the bacon omelet to share. All of there breakfast plates come with toast and home fries. The portions are huge and it more than enough for 2 people. The counter service is friendly and everything else is self serve. The inside was very crowded but there were plenty of open tables outside. The prices were also very reasonable. I'm glad we had a chance to try it out and I would like to go back sometime for lunch.

Posh Bagel!

Sophia says: Hi Readers! Sorry it has been so long since our last review. We are on summer vacation! We are also having a heatwave this weekend.  Today we went to The Posh Bagel for lunch. When we got there, we were going to sit outside but it was too hot! So we moved inside. I ordered the Hawaiian Crepe which, had ham, mozzarella cheese, and pineapples. There was also bagels, smoothies, pizza, sandwiches and coffee on the menu. Our food took about 5 minutes to prepare. My crepe was delicious! The best part was the crepe, it was sweet and nice and doughy. The restaurant was air conditioned, so it was refreshing to be in it. My crepe was so huge that I barely finished it all, so we did not get dessert. Overall, I would come back for a smoothie or a bagel.

Josh says: Hi Readers! Today we went The Posh Bagel. There were so many things to choose from! I ordered a roast beef sandwich on a plain bagel. It came really fast and it was so good! And I ate it and it was delicious. The restaurant was medium sized and it had a big cake on display. I would come back

Jodie says: I really liked The Posh Bagel. Today is super hot and it was nice to go inside and have a relaxing lunch. When we got there, it was a little late and we missed the lunch crowd.  We ordered at the counter and they called our number about 5 minutes later. I had the veggie crepe and it was freshly made and delicious. The people behind the counter were really friendly and courteous. It was a nice break during the day and I would love to go back.

Scratch!

Sophia says: Hi Readers! Today is the day I graduated from the 5th grade! As a special treat, we went to Scratch for lunch with my grandma and grandpa to celebrate! It is called Scratch because most everything is made from scratch. I ordered a cheese pizza off of the kids menu. They have also have a vegetarian menu and a regular menu. Our waitress also announced the specials of the day. Everything took a little longer than usual to come. I liked my pizza. For dessert we ordered a chocolate brownie sundae with pecans to share. The sundae was actually in a bowl and Josh and I ate all of it. The bathrooms were clean and the restaurant is nice.

Josh says: Hi Readers, this is Joshua speaking here - Today was the last day of my 2nd grade! I will now be in 3rd grade tomorrow which is the start of summer! We had lunch at Scratch with my grandma and grandpa. When we got there, the waitress brought us to a table. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries like I always do. I really like cheeseburgers. They also had bread with butter and that was really good. And after we were done, we had dessert. And it was really good. It was a chocolate brownie sundae with ice cream. And after we had dessert we left. I would probably come back. Happy Summer!

Paul says: I ordered the scratch burger and it was better than most burgers. The service seemed fine but slow. It's a little pricey for you get, everything was average, no 'wow' here.

Jodie says: Today was a special day for Sophie & Josh and we wanted to have a celebration lunch with our family. I ordered the steamed mussels which were really delicious. My mom ordered the baby green salad with goat cheese. When it came, it didn't have any goat cheese on it.  I thought the service was not that great. I have been wanting to come here for a long time and I think we were expecting it to be a little bit better than it was. The best part of the lunch was being with my family.

Goldilocks!

Sophia says: Today for lunch we went to Goldilocks. They serve Filipino food. It is right next to the Pet Club where we were getting things for our new hamster. When you walk in, you see big cakes on display. You order at the counter and they were out of a lot of things. We finally settled on glass noodles and chicken rice soup. The noodles were pretty good but the soup was really salty.  The restaurant had a lot of crumbs on the floor. They were mostly out of everything for dessert also so we ordered 2 spongecakes from the bakery.  The spongecakes were just okay. I might go back to get a brownie but probably not for lunch.

Josh says:  Hi Readers! Today we went to Goldilocks the restaurant for lunch. We waited a long time just to order because they were busy. We had noodles and soup and it was not my favorite food. They were out a lot of food and we did not know what to order. I liked looking at all the cakes they had. P.S. Here is a picture of Chunk, our hamster. She is really cute!

Jodie says:  Goldilocks has really amazing cakes on display and that was fun to see. As far as our lunch went, they were pretty busy and as the kids mentioned, out of most everything. They serve Filipino food and I did not know what to order. There was a nice couple next to me in line and they helped explain what everything was.  I would probably not come back for lunch but I would come back if I ever wanted one of their beautifully decorated specialty cakes.
