Welcome to our Blog!

My 10 year old daughter & I created LadyBug Restaurant Reviews to write about the restaurants we eat at from a parent/child perspective. Our ratings are for food, service, presentation, friendly waitstaff and overall experience. We rate on a 1 - 5 ladybug scale, with 5 ladybugs being the highest score. We hope you enjoy and please feel free to comment and give suggestions!

Kikusushi!

Sophia says: Tonight we went to Kikusushi for dinner! When we got there, we waited at the counter and then a hostess came and sat us at our table. Our table was right next to a big fish tank so that was pretty cool. The restaurant is very big, and when you sat into the chair, you sunk into it a little. A couple of minutes later, the waiter came to take our order. I ordered the chicken terryaki bento box with rice, salad, fruit and tempura. To drink I ordered lemonade for me and my brother to share. A few minutes later the waiter brought us our lemonade and water.  It took a while for the food to come but when it came, it was very good. For dessert we ordered green tea cheese cake with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry. It was very yummy. I would totally come back because the food was so good.

Josh says: Tonight we went to Kikusushi for dinner. When we got there, the waiter came to see us really fast. I  got to sit next to a fish tank and I think there were 2 fish tanks in the restaurant. I ordered chicken terryaki and rice. I asked for training chopsticks because I didn't know how use the regular chopstick. My dinner was great. The service was good. And dessert was green tea cheesecake with whipped cream and a cherry. It was good. I would come back because it was great!

Paul says: I was surprised at how large Kikusushi is. They seated us right away but the food took a little long to be served. But good sushi overall. I ordered the dragon roll, ebi and miso soup. The kids ate all of my soup. The service was a bit slow considering that it was not very crowded. It was fine.

Jodie says: I was also surprised at how big the restaurant is. I loved our table which was right next to a beautiful aquarium. The service was a little slow but our waiter was very friendly. I ordered a bagel roll, which was smoked salmon and cream cheese. I thought it was delicious.  Kikusushi is tucked away in the back of a small shopping center and we were lucky to find it. I would love to go back.

The Cantankerous Fish!

Sophia says: Tonight we went to Cantankerous Fish restaurant! We came in at happy hour time. At happy hour time, you can only sit at the bar or on high tables. We choose a high table. When we were seated, it took a few minutes for our waitress to come and take our order.  I ordered the chicken tenders with french fries, carrots and milk from the kid's menu. Our food took a while to come. We got silverware right before we got our food. I thought my dinner was pretty good. The restaurant serves whole milk. The service was slow, but our waitress was very nice. I would still come back because the food was super good but the service was not so good.

Josh says: Tonight me and my mom and my sister went to a restaurant. When we got there, the waiter gave paper and crayons. I did a maze on the paper. It was a hard maze but I did it and I got it right. I ordered chicken nuggets and french fries with carrots. I loved it. The french fries were so so good.  The chicken nuggets were as good as the french fries and I liked the carrots. It took a long time for them to bring our food. I would come back.

Jodie says: I didn't realize you had to sit at the bar to eat from the happy hour menu but we came early and hardly anyone was there. The Cantankerous Fish is a pretty large restaurant and nicely decorated. We were seated immediately but had to wait for everything else.  However, our server was friendly and told us it was her 2nd day working there and she was filling in for someone else. I ordered the steak quesadilla appetizer and it was a little on the heavy side.  They are known for their seafood and if I came back I would try something different and a little lighter.

Chili's Grill & Bar!

Sophia says: Tonight more of our friends, Ellen, Quincy, and Ayden asked us to do a special guest review.  Of course we said yes!  Here it is!

 2560 W El Camino Real, Mountain View, CA 94040, (650) 941-2227

Quincy says: Today we went to Chili’s. My dad is in Canada on a business trip and my mom promised us that we would go to a restaurant. We have been to Chili’s a couple of times. I ordered the Pepper Pals Little Chicken Crispers. I didn’t finish my plate, because my stomach hurted. I definitely would come again. If you go there, don’t forget a sweater, because sometimes it’s really cold inside.

Ayden says: I like Mac and Cheese, but I ordered the Pepper Pals Corn Dog. It was very yummy. I didn’t finish my fries, Kelsey always steals my fries. I wish my dad would be here.

Ellen says: This was not the first time we went to Chili’s, but it was after the remodel. It looked really nice inside. Kelsey ordered the Pepper Pals Grilled Chicken Platter, Owen the Pepper Pals Grilled Cheese Sandwich and I ordered the Monterey Chicken. My plate was enormous and the amount of fries was ridiculous (also because I didn’t like them). The service was real good, our waiter came to our table a couple of times to ask if we needed anything. When we go out for dinner with my husband, we usually order a dessert, but since the kids ate a lot of food, I decided to skip it.

Sweet Leaf Cafe!

Sophia says: Today we went to Sweet Leaf Cafe after school. When we got there, we heard the waitress say "We'll be there in a sec!".  We waited behind the counter until she came.  I ordered the kids lunch which was 1/2 grilled turkey and cheese sandwich, milk and a lemon drop cookie. She asked us questions about what kind of cheese and bread I wanted. She was very nice. After we ordered we sat down at a cute table. After barely any time, she brought my cookie and lunch to our table. I loved the food. The sandwich was very filling and the cookie was delicious. It was empty for a while then one other person came in. I would totally come back because the food was so good and the service was so fast.

Josh says: Today my mom took us to lunch after school for a special treat. When we walked in we walked up to the counter and then we ordered what we wanted. I ordered a grilled turkey with cheese sandwich and almond cookies. But I didn't know they had almonds so I tried them but I did not like them because I don't like almonds. I liked the sandwich, it was good. The cafe looked like a restaurant and I drank some milk in a coffee cup. I would come back because it was amazing.

Jodie says:  The Sweet Leaf Cafe is located right near our neighborhood Safeway and we have seen it for a long time but have never gone in.  I'm glad we took a chance, because it is a hidden gem.  They are only open for breakfast and lunch and it is decorated really cute and the food and service was excellent.  I didn't order anything this time, but will try something from the menu the next time we go back.
